More than 300 people from Asorgli and surrounding communities have benefited from a free health screening exercise held at the Asorgli Palace forecourt as part of activities marking the 2026 Asorgli Te Za.

The exercise was organised by the Member of Parliament for the Ho Central Constituency, Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, in collaboration with the Benadak Herbal Clinic, the Ho Teaching Hospital and medical teams from Akosombo in the Asuogyaman District.

Participants were screened for various health conditions, including liver and kidney-related conditions, breast and cervical cancers, as well as eye, ear and nose-related conditions.

More than 150 beneficiaries also had their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards renewed free of charge.

More than 70 elderly women underwent breast and cervical cancer screening, while over 30 people received comprehensive digital medical screening to assess their general health conditions.

Other beneficiaries received free ear, nose and eye examinations, while more than 30 people were screened for liver and kidney-related conditions.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisers and called for similar health screening exercises to be organised regularly in the community.

The Head of the Medical Team at the Benadak Herbal Clinic, Ben Tutu, said the organisers would consider calls from residents for the exercise to be organised quarterly to promote preventive healthcare.

“We will consider the calls from residents for the exercise to be organised quarterly,” he said.

The Health Coordinator for the Ho Central Constituency, Franklin Fiagbor, also expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the programme.

The 2026 Te Za health screening exercise forms part of activities for this year’s Asorgli Te Za celebrations.
