The Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Dr Yakubu Seidu Adam, has called on corporate organisations, philanthropists, and individuals to support the hospital's “100x100 Project”, stressing that government alone cannot shoulder the cost of delivering quality healthcare.

Speaking at the launch of the Child Health Department's fundraising campaign on July 30, 2026, Dr Adam said partnerships with the private sector and charitable organisations remain crucial to strengthening healthcare delivery.

"The provision of healthcare is universally recognised as a shared responsibility. This principle is founded on the reality that government alone cannot bear the full financial burden of delivering quality healthcare to its citizens," he said.

He noted that the contributions of philanthropic organisations, corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations, and individuals have become indispensable in supporting public health facilities across the country.

"It is for this reason that philanthropic organisations, corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations and individuals continue to play an indispensable role in supporting public health institutions," he added.

Also speaking at the launch, the Head of the Child Health Department, Professor Catherine Segbefia, said the campaign is calling on 100,000 Ghanaians to donate at least GH¢100 each to improve healthcare delivery for children.

"We're asking 100,000 people to give us at least GH¢100, and we would like to raise GH¢10 million by the end of this year," she said.



Professor Segbefia explained that the department would not wait until the full amount is raised before rolling out projects, revealing that the funds would be deployed in phases as donations are received.

"The things that we want to do from the campaign funds will happen as the money comes in. So we're not going to wait until we have all GH¢10 million because we've identified several areas and we have mini budgets within the GH¢10 million for the different things that we want to do."

She added that individual projects would commence once enough funds had been raised for their respective budgets.

"As soon as we have enough funds for each mini project or each mini budget, those things will begin," she added.

The 100x100 Project, spearheaded by the Child Health Department of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, seeks to mobilise funds to procure essential medical equipment and undertake key projects aimed at improving healthcare services for children.
