The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has joined the nationwide clean-up exercise organised by the government to restore sanitation in communities affected by the June 29 floods.

The exercise, held on Friday, July 10, 2026, followed President John Dramani Mahama's declaration of a National Clean-Up Exercise under the theme, "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana After the Floods."

Management and staff from the Ministry's various directorates, departments and units participated in sweeping, desilting drains, collecting refuse and clearing weeds within and around the Ministry's premises.

According to the Ministry, the exercise formed part of the government's broader initiative to improve environmental sanitation following the recent floods while encouraging citizens to adopt responsible waste management practices.

Addressing staff before the exercise, the Director in charge of General Administration, Mr Ebenezer Charway, speaking on behalf of the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr Marian W. A. Kpakpah, urged staff to regard environmental cleanliness as a shared responsibility rather than an activity reserved for designated clean-up days.

He encouraged staff to maintain good sanitation practices both at the workplace and in their respective communities.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national initiatives that promote public health, environmental sustainability and the well-being of Ghanaians.
