The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that Cabinet has decided to prioritise the completion of 35 Agenda 111 hospital projects across the country as part of a phased implementation strategy.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Akandoh said the decision was aimed at ensuring the prudent use of public resources while accelerating the delivery of critical healthcare infrastructure.

He explained that the government would prioritise facilities based on their level of completion, the healthcare needs of beneficiary communities, and regional distribution, with the goal of ensuring that every region benefits from at least one completed hospital.

"I am happy to inform this House that there has been a Cabinet decision on Agenda 111, and we are supposed to phase them out, and so Cabinet has taken the decision to invest in the first 35 districts or facilities," he said.

He said the review of the programme was necessary to ensure that investments made under Agenda 111 delivered meaningful benefits to Ghanaians.

Akandoh also disclosed that the government intends to deepen collaboration with the Christian Health Association of Ghana as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and strengthen the country's health system.

Agenda 111 was introduced by the previous New Patriotic Party administration under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to address gaps in the country's healthcare infrastructure by constructing hospitals in districts without such facilities, as well as regional and specialised hospitals.
