The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has pointed out the daily struggles of cancer patients in her constituency.
In a post shared on X on Saturday, February 7, 2026, she stressed the need for improved access to cancer treatment in the country.
Public urged to engage in regular health check for early detection of cancer
“In Ablekuma North, the struggle against cancer is made heavier by the painful absence of basic resources. Screening centres are scarce. Early detection is a privilege, not a guarantee. Essential drugs are either expensive or simply unavailable,” she noted.
Health Professionals encouraged to ensure proper diagnosis of childhood cancers
She further revealed the personal impact of these challenges on her work as an MP.
“I sit with constituents who look to me for answers I do not always have. I listen to families asking for help that goes beyond my personal capacity. In those moments, the weight of helplessness is overwhelming,” she said.
Aubynn called on the community to raise awareness and advocate for better access to cancer care.
“Cancer should not be a death sentence because of where you live, what you earn, or who you know,” she added.

Cancer is not just a diagnosis; it is a daily battle fought quietly in homes across Ablekuma North. It is the mother who hides her pain because she cannot afford another hospital visit. It is the father who sells his last asset for treatment that may never come. It is the young… pic.twitter.com/U0YnzqnBP9
