Kumasi is set to host the 2025 edition of the “BCI Ghana Walk for the Cure,” Ghana’s largest breast cancer awareness event, on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

The event, organised by Breast Care International (BCI), is expected to draw around 30,000 participants from across the country.

The walk, themed “A Cure Worth Fighting For,” will start at Adum Post Office and conclude at the Manhyia Durbar Grounds. Over the years, the event has served as a platform to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and encourage community engagement in public health initiatives.

This year also marks the rebranding of BCI after more than 23 years of service, reflecting the organisation’s renewed focus on outreach and education. BCI has provided free screenings, educational programs, and other interventions benefiting thousands of women in Ghana and across Africa.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai, Founder and President of BCI, emphasised that breast cancer should be addressed as a societal challenge rather than an individual one.

“This is more than just an event. It’s a movement. It’s a family. It’s survivorship; it’s hope in motion,” she said, noting that the walk also serves to honor survivors and remember those who have lost their lives to the disease.

As the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches in October, BCI is encouraging public participation in the walk as part of broader efforts to strengthen awareness, early detection, and preventive action in Ghana.
