The Nurse and Midwife Educators' Society, Ghana (N&MES-GH) has congratulated Kwabena Mintah Akandoh on his appointment as Minister of Health-designate.
The group praised Akandoh's outstanding leadership and contributions as Ranking Member of the Health Committee of Parliament, which they say has been inspiring.
They expressed confidence that his expertise will transform the health sector, especially in training institutions across Ghana.
The statement read; “The leadership of nurses and midwives educators at the various Health Training Colleges officially known as the Nurse and Midwife Educators’ Society, Ghana (N&MES-GH) under the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) celebrates your appointment as the Minister of Health-designate.
"... Your exceptional contributions and great leadership to the health committee, as an Honourable Member of Parliament ranking for health in Parliament has inspired us."
It added “We are confident that your expertise will bring about transformative progress in the Health Training Institutions which is a key human resource base for the health system in Ghana. In the area of migration of the institutions to tertiary status and the implementation of the harmonized scheme of service and statute for the Health Training Colleges, we pray you to expertise the action as this is our heartbeat.”
Mintah Akandoh’s nomination comes at a critical time when Ghana's healthcare sector faces pressing challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, workforce shortages, and the need for improved healthcare delivery systems.
He is a seasoned Ghanaian politician and a member of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, representing the Juaboso constituency.
He has previously served as the Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, where he played a key role in shaping health policies and legislative oversight.
