Tema Blood Bank appeal for more blood

Tema, Nov 04, GNA - The management of the Blood Bank of the Tema General Hospital on Saturday appealed to the public to donate more blood to it to help save lives.

Mrs Maxima Mensah, the Principal Nursing Officer of the bank, said the bank has a capacity of 500 units of blood but it has never achieved that target.

She said averagely it gets only 300 units of blood that serves both in-patients as well as all private hospitals in Tema. Mrs Mensah made the appeal when members of the Tema Royal Assembly of the Apostolic Church-Ghana donated blood and cleaned the hospital as part of activities marking the church's 30th anniversary. Mrs Mensah commended students and churches for their support and appealed to establishments, voluntary associations and individuals to come to donate blood to the hospital.

Senior Pastor Jeremiah Mensah of the church said quality health care of people has been the concern of the church, hence its decision to donate blood and gave the assurance that more donation would follow. 04 Nov. 06
