Yendi municipal health directorate embarks on registration for nets

The Yendi Municipal Health Directorate has embarked on registration for point mass distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINS) in May 2018.

During the Micro Plan, 132 field workers made up of District Supervisor, Sub-Municipal Supervisors and Registration Assistants were trained in Yendi.
Hajia Hajara Haruna the Yendi Municipal Director of Health Service announced this when she briefed the media about the exercise in her office in Yendi of Northern Region.

She indicated that they took delivery of logistics including; tablets, code cards, posters for the exercise.

She said social mobilisation was carried out using all churches, mosques with mobile address system to make the announcement to the general public to cooperate and register with officers carrying out the exercise.

She stated that registration of households started by the Registration Assistants on 26th May 2018 would end by 1st June 2018.

According to the Health Director, they were expected to register about 37,163 households estimated at covering about 148,649 people in Yendi and indicated that the exercise was sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, UNICEF, UKaid and Good Life

Mr Mbabila Awuni, the Yendi Municipal Disease Control Officer said after validation of data to correct errors of households Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health based on the number would transport the nets to the Municipality for distribution.

Mr Awuni said they were expected to start distribution from 23rd to 30th June 2018 and the purpose of the exercise was to fight malaria in Ghana.
He noted that currently, malaria burden had reduced drastically in Northern Region.

According to the Disease Control Officer, it showed their strategies were working and there was the need to ensure that all people in Yendi slept under the net to ensure the good life
