The children at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital received an unforgettable surprise when Leonardo Muylaert, the internationally acclaimed “Brazilian Superman”, visited the pediatric cancer ward during his first mission to Ghana.

Dressed in his signature Superman suit, Leonardo brought more than just the look of a hero; he brought the heart of one. Moving quietly from bed to bed, he knelt beside each child, offering warm hugs, listening to their stories, and reminding them that hope is powerful even on the hardest days. The children lit up with excitement as he held their hands, took photos with them, and spoke words of encouragement to their families.

For many of the young patients, this moment was a boost of courage. Parents and nurses described the atmosphere as “joyful,” “comforting,” and “unexpectedly healing.” His presence filled the ward with laughter, wonder, and renewed strength.

Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana was honoured to welcome him. His visit reaffirmed the power of compassion and the importance of standing with children and families fighting cancer.

As one nurse said, “For a moment, they forgot about treatment; they just smiled. And that is a kind of healing too.”
