Vodafone Foundation launches healthline voice message

The Vodafone Ghana Foundation in partnership with Ghana Medical Association (GMA) launched the healthline voice message in Accra.

The healthline voice message is a free voice message service initiative that would help bridge the gap in accessing health information.

Nana Yaa Ofori–Koree, Foundation and Sustainability Manager at Vodafone Ghana, said per the new health initiative, Vodafone customers would receive free weekly recorded voice messages that are sent to their phones.

She said the recorded messages are in English, Twi, Ga, Ewe and Hausa, to make it possible for low-literacy customers to access health information for free.

“This is the newest addition to our list of revolutionary health initiatives that we have introduced to promote healthy behaviour and increase access to health information in this country and customers are advised to save the number 0507910455 as Healthline Voice Message service,” she said.

She said Vodafone’s dedication to advancing healthcare in Ghana is its priority and it would continue to identify opportunities where it could support the sector throughout the country.

“Vodafone Ghana Foundation will continue to introduce revolutionary health initiatives that impact the nation and transform the lives of every Ghanaian.”

Dr Kwabena Opoku- Adusei, President of GMA said the collaboration with the Vodafone Ghana Foundation is important, especially when there is an Ebola outbreak in some neighbouring countries in the sub region.

He said the GMA would be providing professional advice to the message platform as well as encouraging its members to subscribe to it.

He said medical doctors and other health professionals are at higher risk of contracting the Ebola viral disease and the introduction of the healthline messages would help minimise the risk.

Dr Opoku-Adusei urged the media to give attention to health issues, to enable the citizens live a healthy life.

He commended Vodafone Ghana Foundation for its quest to promote healthy lifestyle, adding that, the GMA would continue to partner them to bring quality healthcare to the people.
