Total Ghana heightens support for fight against Malaria

As part of the fight to end Malaria and to commemorate this year’s World Malaria Day, Total Petroleum Ghana has distributed treated mosquito bed nets and mosquito sprays to pregnant and lactating mothers in Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Area of the Central Region.

A statement said the distribution exercise, under the auspices of the Ghana Health Service, was part of a two-day programme held with support from the Ghana Education Service at the Kasoa Ofaakor Cluster of Schools with an edutainment session, which was interspersed with a play, cultural displays as well as a quiz competition between Ofaakor cluster and Nahadatu Islamic basic schools to enhance their understanding of good sanitation and hygiene practices.

According to The Corporate Social Responsibility Officer of Total Ghana, Charlotte Someah-Kwaw, this year’s activities, announced in conjunction with World Malaria Day under the theme ‘Roll Back Malaria for Good’, will continue the company’s 10-year effort that has seen thousands of school children, pregnant and lactating mothers at several health posts and communities in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Western Regions benefiting from series of preventive programmes and distribution of treated mosquito nets.

She added that Total Ghana’s Malaria Campaign over the years used the company’s network of service stations as an effective platform to expand its reach to the motoring public by distributing treated mosquito bed nets to commercial drivers and other customers.

Total Ghana as a recognized ambassador in the fight against malaria has deployed anti-malaria programmes over the years in vulnerable and deprived communities to contribute to the mitigation efforts of global entities worldwide.

This tremendous progress has helped to accelerate the fight against malaria. In addition to these preventive programs at Kasoa Ofaakor, Total Ghana organized a forum for its staff across the country to further the cause.
