Sunyani Regional hospital Opd empty

The Out-Patient department of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital was virtually empty on Friday, the second day into the doctors’ strike action declared by the Ghana Medical Association over their conditions of service.

The situation has not changed on day five since yesterday.

However, there was a different scenario at the Sunyani Municipal Hospital where the OPD had been filled with patients, a situation the nurses attributed to the presence of officials of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) who were there to renew expired cards for card holders.

In a chat with the administrator of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital, Abraham Asare Bediako, he mentioned that only emergency and in-patient cases were being attended to at the time DAILY GUIDE was on visit.

Mr Bediako disclosed that medical doctors on day one of the strike came in the morning and inspected wards and attended to caesarean cases.
