Sharp Pharmaceuticals donates drug to AIDS Commission

Accra, May 17, GNA - Sharp Pharmaceuticals Limited, a leading drug wholesalers on Friday presented boxes of Immumod drug valued at GH¢2,000 to the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC). Immumod is an immune booster, which helps the body to fight diseases and is useful for Persons Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), as well as cancer and malaria sufferers.

Making the presentation in Accra, Mr Seth Boahen Yeboah, Marketing Director of Sharp Pharmaceuticals Limited, said it was part of the company's yearly social responsibility. "As an institution, we don't think of only making profit, but also giving back to society," he said.

Professor Sakyi Awuku Amoa, Director-General of the AIDS Commission, who received the drug, said the presentation was timely because about 70,000 PLWHAs were yet to receive Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) this year. He said currently only 16,000 PLWHAs were on ART and appealed to others to come to the aid of these people.
