The Ministry of Health has confirmed that one person has been arrested in connection with the recent assault on health workers at Ridge Hospital in Accra.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, Tony Goodman, the Public Relations Officer at the Ministry disclosed this during an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday August 20, 2025.

“The minister went to Ridge when the incident happened. The minister got there, gave a clear directive, and spoke with the Greater Accra Regional Command. He made sure that the persons involved get medical care, report to the police station, and meet the management of the hospital. He told them how he is ready to provide additional security and assured them that the gentleman involved would face the full rigor of the law,” Goodman stated.

“On his way, a gentleman came—we cannot say that he knows him. He was later informed by the hospital management that the said gentleman is the perpetrator of the crime. The police arrived, and the guy fled but his accomplice was arrested,” he added.

The report noted that one other suspect is still at large.

The arrest follows the circulation of a video showing relatives of a patient clashing with some health workers at the emergency department during an emergency case.
