In a profound demonstration of faith in action, Pastor Emmanuel Yirebi, Resident Minister of the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC), Asokwa, Kumasi, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, extended the church’s Worship Conference 2025 beyond its walls to the Kumasi Central Prison, donating assorted items worth GH¢80,000 to inmates of both the Central and Female Prison facilities.

The donation, which formed part of the 20th Edition of the Worship Conference under the theme “Absolute Worship”, was presented to prison authorities and inmates during a ceremony filled with prayer, praise, and a message of hope. The items included hot meals for over 1,700 inmates, bottled water, cartons of soft drinks, toiletries, and sanitary pads.

Health Screening and Medical Support

In addition to health screenings for all inmates, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin, supported the exercise with GH¢20,000 worth of medical supplies to restock the health centre at the Kumasi Central Prison and the infirmary of the Female Prison.

Absolute Worship Through Music

In line with the conference theme, the Echoes Music Group (an inmates’ choir from the Central Prison), the New Life Music Group from the Female Prison, and PIWC Asokwa’s The Rising Glory Choir ministered powerfully in song, filling the atmosphere with praise and worship that moved both inmates and visitors to dance in celebration of God’s goodness.

Support for Agricultural Mechanisation

To further support the Director-General of Prisons’ Kitchen Support Project, which seeks to boost inmates’ protein intake through vegetable, fish, and poultry farming, PIWC Asokwa donated a brand-new hybrid water pumping machine. The machine will be used for irrigation at the Central Prison’s vegetable farm at South Suntreso Prison Barracks, managed by ASP Kombian, ASP Akogyeram, and their agricultural team.

Worship Beyond the Pews

Explaining the motivation behind the initiative, Pastor Yirebi said the gesture was central to the church’s mission of worshipping God through community service and social support for the vulnerable.

“For two decades, our Worship Conference has been a time to seek God’s face in spirit and in truth. True worship, however, is not confined to the four walls of the church. It must extend to showing the love of Christ to those in need, including our brothers and sisters behind bars. This donation, valued at GH¢80,000, is our practical expression of worship. Our prayer is that these items provide not only material support but also a message of hope—that they are not forgotten by God or society,” Pastor Yirebi stated.

Gratitude from Prisons Service

The Officer-in-Charge of the Kumasi Central Prison and Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing.), who received the donation on behalf of the Service and inmates, expressed immense gratitude for PIWC Asokwa’s continuous benevolence.

“We are incredibly grateful to PIWC Asokwa for this remarkable act of kindness. Donations of this scale significantly impact our operational capacity and the welfare of the inmates. They also supplement government efforts and provide much-needed relief. More importantly, the water pumping machine is a major boost to our agricultural projects. We deeply cherish this partnership,” DDP Mwinyelle said.

The event was attended by senior officers of the Kumasi Central Prison, including Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) Courage Atsem, CSP Samuel Dompreh, CSP David Nyame, and CSP Richard Bukari, as well as notable leaders from PIWC Asokwa such as Pastor Emmanuel Kyei Boate, Pastor Ofosu Kwakye Jnr, Elder Joseph Kofi Amankwa, and Elder Festus Nyame.
