The National Vaccine Institute (NVI) has rolled out a nationwide Vaccine Perception Survey ahead of Ghana’s planned transition from financial and technical support by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance by 2030.

The survey, which commenced on February 16, 2026 and ends on March 10, 2026, is being conducted in 55 districts across all 16 regions.

It targets 11,077 randomly selected respondents through structured interviews, complemented by seven focus group discussions to provide deeper qualitative insights.

In a statement issued on February 19, 2026, the Institute said the exercise seeks to measure public confidence in vaccines, particularly those manufactured locally, while identifying factors that influence acceptance and tracking misinformation that may affect uptake.

Chief Executive Officer of the NVI, Sodzi-Tettey, said the initiative is designed to strengthen trust through community engagement.

“We genuinely want to listen and understand. This is not a sales pitch. All information shared will remain strictly confidential,” he said.

According to NVI, the findings will help shape targeted communication campaigns, inform policy decisions, and establish a national benchmark for vaccine confidence as Ghana expands its domestic vaccine production capacity.

Residents in selected districts have been urged to participate fully in the survey, with assurances that responses will be handled with strict confidentiality.
