NHIS staff donate blood to Holy Family hospital

Staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Eastern Region, have organized a blood donation exercise to fill the blood bank of the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw.

The exercise coincided with f a staff durbar held by members at the Biege Village at New-Abirem.

Staff members of all the 17 districts of the NHIA in the region took part in the maiden exercise, and shared experiences and ideas on best practices.

Mr Seidu Sampson Abudu, the Eastern Regional Director of the NHIA, said they were motivated by frequent reports of blood shortage at the hospital.

He said as stakeholders in healthcare delivery, they found it prudent to set the example for others to emulate by rallying all their staff members across the region to donate blood towards such a worthy cause.

The regional director who was happy about the response urged, and urged the staff to work hard to ensure that the public derived the fullest benefits of the healthcare insurance.

He said the success of the scheme depended largely on staff professionalism and commitment to their work schedules, and admonished them to be mindful of the nature of their job and be patient with clients.

Mr Abudu announced that the region was adjudged the third best region with regard to health insurance activities, and urge them to continue with the good work to ensure that the region became first.
