MoH holds annual health summit

The Ministry of Health (MoH) will from April 25 to 29, 2016, organise its annual health summit to review its performance in the previous year.

The five-day event, scheduled to take place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, will be on the theme: ‘Working Together Towards Universal Health Coverage, Consolidating The Gains of The Health Related MDGs’.

A release signed by the Public Relations Officer of MoH, Tony Goodman, said the summit is part of the Sector Wide Approach Arrangement (SWAP) that the ministry entered into with its partners.

“Findings of the holistic assessment of the sector which reflects the general performance of the sector for 2015 will be presented and discussed,” he said.

The summit which will be chaired by Julius Debrah, chief of staff of the Republic of Ghana, will undertake activities like the launch of the World Malaria Day, holistic assessment of the sector, and global dynamics-financing for development and domestic resources mobilisation, presentation on the NHIS review.

Others will be public expenditure and implementation review, public health emergencies, hospital care emergency, government decentralisation and sub-national health service delivery, reproductive, maternal and child health.

The scaling up of the HIV service towards the 90-90-90 fast-track targets, and private sector opportunities in health will also be presented and discussed.

At the end of the summit, an aide memoire which reflects the commitments of the Ministry of Health and its partners towards improving performance of the health sector will be produced and signed.

The signing will take place on April 29, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Ministry of Health Conference Room.
