Many malaria cases reported in Odoben-Asikuma-Brakwa District

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Aug. 23, GNA 96 Forty-four per cent of cases reported at the outpatient Departments (OPD) of health facilities at Odoben-Asikuma-Brakwa District is malaria related. Dr Louis Amuzu, District Director of Health Services, said this, a speech read for him at the end of 93Malaria Walk=94 organised by the Breman Asikuma Methodist Youth over the weekend. He said in order to reduce the prevalence rate of the disease in the District the people should keep their environment clean adding that the negative impact of the disease on the society was very high, since it reduced the productivity of those afflicted.

Mr Samuel Amponsah Arthur, a candidate for the District level Election in the area, called on other candidates to put aside partisan sentiment during their house to house campaigning. He said by so doing they would help in avoiding confrontations that would undermine the peace the area was enjoying. Mr Arthur asked the electorate to critically examine and choose a person who could represent them effectively at the District Assembly for them to enjoy their share of the national cake. 23 Aug. 06
