Lordina/Obuobia Foundations assist Ga South Municipal Hospital

The Lordina Foundation has, in collaboration with the Obuobia Foundation, presented medical equipment and supplies and an ambulance to the Ga Municipal Hospital at Weija in Accra.

The presentation was to mark the 39th birthday of Ms Oboubia Darko-Opoku, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Weija-Gbawe Constituency.

The medical equipment, a support from Medshare USA, included beds and mattresses, emergency trolleys, stethoscopes, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, resuscitators, blood storage fridge, blood glucose monitor, wheel chairs, catheter, irrigation set and endoscopic clip appliers.

At a birthday durbar at the hospital premises, Ms Darko-Opoku said her passion for humanity had always been the driving force for her support towards healthcare in her constituency in particular and in the whole country.

She said through the Obuobia Foundation, she had provided persons with disability in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency with wheel chairs and white canes to improve their lot and also donated a 15000-litre water tank to the Municipal Hospital to help store water and cease the acute water problem at the hospital while a more permanent solution was sought.

Ms Darko-Opoku said she had lobbied for a CHPS Compound project which had commenced within the Tetegu Community and expected to be completed in November this year to help support healthcare delivery to the people.

“My greatest wish and desire will be to see this constituency and its constituents having the best healthcare, especially women and children,” she said.

She pledged that on her 40th birthday, she would complete the maternity ward expansion project of the Municipal Hospital to meet the demands of the fast growing population.

Mrs Darko-Opoku said: “It is my prayer that the ambulance and the other equipment and accessories will help save lives of our people and improve health care in our constituency”.

Dr Bright Davies-Teye, the Municipal Health Director, said there were about 583, 250 people living within the municipality and that presented enormous health challenges but the Municipal Assembly and the Government had been up to the task and had contributed greatly towards the healthcare needs of the people.

He commended the Obuobia and Lordina Foundations for coming to help the hospital, saying, the medical supplies and the ambulance would go a long way to improve healthcare.

Nii Boafo Daanyinaase, Acting Weija Chief and Gaasetse of Weija, who chaired the durbar, appealed to all to ensure that Ghana holds a peaceful election.
