Korle Bu closes main surgical theatre for renovation

Authorities at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have announced that the main surgical theatre would be shut down for renovation from Wednesday, July 17, 2013.

A statement signed by Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital, said the renovation works on the theatre will start immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of October, 2013.

“The work is part of the on-going major retooling of the hospital being funded by the government through the ministry of health,” it added.

Due to this, the statement said, only urgent and emergency surgical cases will be attended to in alternative theatres in the hospital.

“Patients who have been previously given appointments for surgery should bear with their doctors when they are rescheduled, as this refurbishment will result in improvements to theatre services, provided by the hospital,” it said, adding “we deeply apologise for any inconvenience this action will cause our patients and clients.”
