Japan Motors supports Ebola Education Fund

Japan Motors has donated GHC3,000 in support of the Ebola Education Fund.

Dalex Finance and leasing Company Limited (Dalex) in partnership with Business and Financial Times Limited (B&Ft) and supported by the United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF), Ghana have initiated a fund to raise private sector money to fund a large scale effort to educate the population about Ebola.

The setup of the fund was motivated by a shared concern that the potential effect of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak on the already soft Ghanaian economy could be severe. B&FT and Dalex believe that a valuable tool in helping to prevent an outbreak of the disease in Ghana is a proactive nationwide education campaign.

The two organisations then contacted the United Nations Children and Education fund (UNICEF), agreed to provide content and advice on the nationwide education effort on EVD.

According to the World Health Organisation, The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is the world's deadliest to date and has declared an international health emergency as more than 2,100 people have died of the virus in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria this year.

Mr. Kenneth Kwamina Thompson, CEO of Dalex Finance is encouraging all corporate institutions and personalities to support in cash, products and services to disseminate as much information through various approaches such as print and broadcast communications within the shortest possible time.

Dalex finance, as the initiator of this fund, has donated seed money of GHC100,000 . Others such as media personalities and artiste have pledged their support. A number of corporate organisations are supporting the education of EVD, by participating in the poster pasting exercise.

The pasting activity will cover areas such as the lorry parks, markets, and the Railway Station among others. Other approaches include radio jingles in local dialect as well as innovative ways of disseminating the information.
