Ho Municipal Hospital declining services to NHIS members

Ho, Aug. 25,GNA-The Ho Municipal Hospital is refusing to treat patients with the Ho Mutual Health Insurance Card. This is due to the inability of the National Health Insurance Scheme to pay claims submitted to it in the last six months. On Monday, patients with the Insurance Card were turned away from the Facility except those who were willing and had the ability to pay for services.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the Hospital around 0930 hours, no authority was available to comment on the issue but some health aides the GNA spoke to confirmed the story.

Mr Dickson Nuku Dansu, Ho Municipal Health Insurance Claims Manager, said he was aware of the situation but had been formally informed on the issue.

He confirmed that the Scheme owed the hospital but said it was putting measures in place to settle the bill. Mr Dansu said the Scheme filed for distress a month ago to Head Office and was hopeful the issue would be settled within the week. 25 Aug. 09
