Accra, Oct. 25, GNA - Healthcare service providers have been urged to uphold the ethics of the profession by treating patients with compassion and love.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodioo, Mr Jonathan Tackie Komme, gave the advice at the beginning of a six-month programme to train 51 people under the Health Extension workers module of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) at the Ussher Clinic at James Town in Accra.
He commended Government for maintaining and improving the programme by adding more modules to it and appealed to the youth to take advantage of it to contribute their quota to national development.
Mr Tackie Komme advised the trainees to take the course seriously and to be punctual since it could be the beginning of their future profession and a stepping stone to Nursing Training College.
The Ashiedu Keteke District Coordinator of the NYEP, Nii Teiko Tackie, called on the trainees to cooperate with the facilitators for a successful programme to give meaning to Government's 93Better Ghana Agenda".
He said after the six months programme - two months theory and four months practical, the 51 trainees who were the first batch in the area under the module, would be deployed to the six health centers and clinics in the area.
The Assistant Ashiedu Keteke Coordinator of the NYEP, Mr Alhassan Muzamilu, urged the trainees to always be regular and prompt to work to compliment effort put in by staff of the clinic for successful health delivery.
The NYEP would engage the trainees two years after which their contracts would be terminated.
