Health authorities say all 14 swine flu cases managed

Accra, Oct. 20, GNA - The health authorities said on Tuesday that all 14 cases of Influenza H1N1 2009 virus (swine flu) in the country have been well managed and discharged. A statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service said a total of 219

specimens had been investigated at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, which is the National Influenza Centre, as at October 14. The figure is made up of 179 suspected cases and 40 contacts. "The total number confirmed as positive for Influenza H1N1 2009 virus stands at 14. All the 14

have been well managed and discharged," the statement said. It added that no death had been recorded in Ghana so far. The health authorities said the situation was being closely monitored as influenza pandemics had been known to occur in waves, from "mild" to "moderate" to "severe".
