The Ministry of Health has announced the formation of a seven-member Investigation Committee to examine allegations of unethical medical practices at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
This was contained in a statement issued by the ministry on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
"We have constituted a dedicated Investigation Committee to conduct a thorough and independent inquiry into the allegations of unethical medical practices at these facilities. It is critical that our healthcare system maintains the highest ethical standards, and this committee will help restore public confidence", it stated.

It said the committee is chaired by Alhaji Dr (Pharm) Inua Yusuf, Head/Dir Legal Affairs at the ministry.
Other members of the committee include Dr Eric Kofi Ngyedu,CEO, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Dean of CEOs for Teaching Hospitals, Dr Adam Abass, Neurosurgeon, Tamale Teaching Hospital and President, Ghana Academy of Neurosurgeons.
The rest are Dr George Sabblah, Deputy CEO (Technical Operations), Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Dr Nicholas Adjabu, Biomedical Engineer, Biomedical Engineering Unit, Ministry of Health, Dr Frederick Kwarteng, Representative, Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and Head, Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Prof John Osae-Kwapong, Democracy and Development Fellow, CDD-Ghana, representing Civil Society Organisations.(CSOs)
The statement further noted that, "The key objectives of this committee are to carry out a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the allegations and to assess the adequacy of existing governance, oversight, and control systems in preventing unethical practices within the affected hospitals."
On the timeline for the inquiry, the ministry stated that,"The committee has been directed to submit its final report and recommendations by February 10, 2026"

It also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding ethical standards and restoring confidence in Ghana’s healthcare system.
