Health Directorates urged to promote Keep Fit Clubs

Yendi, Sept. 23, GNA - The Yendi Municipal Director of Health Service, Mrs Denisia Agong Kaara has called on Health Directorates to encourage the formation of nationwide Keep Fit Clubs to reduce the risk of premature deaths. Mrs Kaara noted that exercises impact positively on the individual's health by reducing the risk of developing diseases such diabetes, high bloo= d pressure, cancer as well as depression and anxiety. The Municipal Director made the call during the inauguration of the Yendi Municipal Keep Fit Club at Yendi organized by the Yendi Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region.

According to the Municipal Health Director, exercise has a medicinal function and therefore necessary for everybody to have a feel of it for at least 30-minutes thrice a week.

Mrs Kaara stressed on the importance of vegetable and fruits juices instead of soft drinks in the quest to stay healthy at all times. "Eating enough vegetables prevents cardiovascular diseases, cancers and arthritis," Kaara also a Patron of the Club added. Mr Braimah Farouk, Yendi Municipal Nutrition Officer also stressed the need for all persons to regularly take vegetables such as peanuts, garlic, beans, tomatoes, moringa and carrots among others as part of their meals.
