Ghacem staff walk to keep fit

Ghacem, Ghana’s premier and leading cement manufacturer has held a health walk and float across some principal streets in Tema metropolis as part of activities marking its 50th anniversary celebration.

The joint health walk and float, under the theme “Walking for 50 and Beyond = Health” saw staff members, heads of departments and directors of the company walk to keep fit.

The walk and float started from the Ghacem Club House, through Community 5 traffic to Community 1 & 2 and ended at the Club house.

Addressing the workers after the walk, Works Manager at Tema Plant, Mr. Eugene Laryea thanked the staff for showing up in their numbers to keep fit as part of the anniversary celebration.

Mr. Laryea further urged the workers to take safety measures seriously as well as keep fit regularly after the anniversary celebrations.

Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee and Commercial Director of Ghacem, Nana Philip Archer on his part announced to the workers that, as part of activities for the anniversary, there will be a staff party for the workers in Tema on Friday August 4, 2017 at the Club House.

Nana Archer added that similar events will be held in Takoradi for those in the Western Region including fun games and donations to some health facilities.

After the health walk and float, management and members of the anniversary planning committee, led by Nana Archer paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Tema Traditional Council, Nii Adjei Kraku to inform him about the upcoming activities.

The delegation also used the opportunity to invite the Tema Mantse to the 50th birthday party of Ghacem slated for August 30, 2017.

The delegation further pledged to support the Tema Traditional Council in various forms to develop the metropolis.

Nii Adjei Kraku on his part thanked the delegation for their visit and wished the company well in the anniversary.

Some of the major upcoming events for the anniversary celebration include Fun games, donation to Tema General Hospital and Efia Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi/Takoradi, birthday party on August 30th, a presidential ball and a Thanks giving service to climax the anniversary celebration.
