Five health facilities in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central Region have received medical equipment and supplies worth $40,000 from the Fantis Association of Connecticut, USA.

The items included examination room beds and stools, standing weight scales, I.V poles, bio-hazard waste containers, first respond emergency collars, boxes of examination gloves, drip stands, wheel chairs among others.

The beneficiary health facilities were the Mankessim Community Health Centre, Salvation Army Health Centre at Ajumako, Anomabo Health Centre, Dominase Health Centre and the Ekumpoano Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.

The presentation was to help improve primary healthcare delivery in the communities within the municipality.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Association, the spokesperson, Mr John Koomson, said the donation was made possible following a need assessment with authorities of the Mfantseman Health Directorate and leaders from selected communities when he visited the municipality three years ago.

He said the donation was in fulfillment of the Association’s mission of reaching out to needy hospitals in the region to promote quality health care.

The aim of the association is to ensure that all hospitals and health facilities in the Central Region had enough equipment to provide quality primary health care to the people, he said.

He was hopeful that the gesture would help step up quality health care delivery at the beneficiary hospitals.

Mr Koomson encouraged Ghanaians residing in the Diaspora to contribute their quota in assisting hospitals in Ghana to lessen the challenges confronting them.

Ms. Georgina Yvonne Graham-Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Health Director together with Mr Ekow Kwansah Hayford, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman and Nana Kyia III, Adontenhen of Ekumfi Traditional Area, received the equipment on behalf of their respective hospitals.

Mrs Graham-Hayfron expressed gratitude to the Association for the gesture and called for stronger and long standing partnership in future for more support.

She said the equipment would be of immense help to the beneficiary facilities in delivering quality health care to the people as majority of them lacked those facilities.

She promised to ensure that the equipment were put into good use to help provide quality care to the people.
