Fanteakwa District Hospital at Begoro gets an ambulance

Begoro, Oct. 7, GNA - The Executive Club of Begoro has donated an ambulance and 40 blankets valued at 15,000 Euros to the Fanteakwa District Hospital at Begoro.

The club also donated books to the Begoro Community Library and promised to assist the various communities in the area. The donation was made at a durbar of the chiefs and people of Fanteakwa to climax this year's Odwira festival.

The organizing secretary of the club, Mr Kofi Asare Lartey, told the Ghana News Agency that since the formation of the club in 2000, it had contributed to the development of the area. He said in 2004 the club donated electricity bulbs for the town's streets lights.

Mr Asare-Lartey said this time their decision to donate the ambulance was due to the difficulties people encountered in transporting patients to health facilities. Receiving the keys of the ambulance on behalf of the hospital, the District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa, Mr Abass Fuseini Sbaabe, thanked the club for the donation and urged others to do the same. Dr George Bonsu, the Eastern Regional Deputy Director of Health Services, thanked the members of the club for the donation.
