Effutu participates in Sanitation Day programme

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, has called on residents of the area to rekindle their communal spirit to facilitate the development of the area and also ensure environmental cleanliness.

He said this after a four-hour clean-up exercise held in Winneba on Saturday as part of the national sanitation day declared by the government.

He said embarking on periodic clean-up exercise would not only prevent outbreak of communicable diseases but would also help create a clean environment.

Personnel from the Police, Prison and Fire services and some from the Assembly participated.

They distilled gutters and drains, swept the streets and weeded over-grown areas.

At Winneba Junction, the Assemblywoman for the Kojo Beedu North Electoral, Ms Elizabeth Awo Sena, led the people to weed.

She appealed to the Company whose tanker was involved in an accident and split an industrial palm oil in the gutters at the Junction last week to help clean it.

According to her attempts by the people to clean the gutters with water has proved unsuccessful.
