Dixcove Gov’t Hospital needs emergency unit

Dr Joseph Kobina Osei, the Medical Superintendent of Dixcove Government Hospital, has appealed to corporate bodies to support the health facility construct an accident emergency unit.

He said the hospital often receives accident victims but it is handicapped in its efforts as it lacks an accident emergency unit to help in its efforts.

Dr Osei said this on Tuesday to the GNA when a Kia truck crashed into a group of people at a marriage ceremony last Sunday, killing four people on the spot.

He said all the four deaths experienced pelvic fractures which destroyed their waist bones completely while the survivors sustained various degrees of injuries.

Dr Osei said the survivors included seven adults and four children adding that their conditions has since stabilized while others have been treated and discharged.

Mr Kojo Aseku, the father of the pregnant woman, who died in the accident, said her daughter left behind six children.

Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, who visited the victims at the hospital, said the community centre where the marriage ceremony was being held would be relocated to forestall future accidents.
