DKT launches 'Kiss On The Ride' initiative

DKT International Incorporation Ghana, has launched the “Kiss On the Ride” project aimed at reducing Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and unwanted pregnancies.

The non-profit organisation's project was targeted at branding 50 Kiss taxis in three regions with kiss stickers and audio-visual sex information as well as make kiss condoms available to passengers at a price of GH? 1.50p

The branded kiss condom taxis would be located in Accra, Takoradi and Kumasi to educate the sexually active men and women in the regions.

The Marketing Manager of DKT Ghana, Kelly De-Vries Adosu in a news briefing in Accra, said the three cities were selected due to their different social classes and high population of sexually active youth as well as adult.

Madam Adosu said, “with the increase in unwanted pregnancy and STIs like HIV and AIDS, DKT believes this innovation is timely to help curb the spread of these diseases through Kiss condoms being made accessible and affordable.

"We know this will also help the drivers earn additional income," she added.

She urged Ghanaians to embrace the initiative as it would benefit not only individuals but help the nation eradicate unplanned pregnancies, HIV and AIDS.

One of the drivers, Emmanuel Asamoah who operates at 37 station lauded DKT for the initiative and the privilege given him through training to offer maximum support to educate his clients on STIs.

DKT introduced Kiss condom into the Ghanaian market in 2012 with the mission to provide safe and affordable option for family planning and HIV and AIDS prevention.
