Crime Check Foundation supports breast cancer patient

Crime Check Foundation, (CCF), an NGO, has presented GH¢ 1,500 as part of its Health Check and Charity activities to Miss Agnes Dogbe, a Breast Cancer Patient for her immediate care and upkeep.

The Foundation is appealing to benevolent individuals and organizations to support Miss Dogbe through her medical journey to save her life.

Mr Ibrahim, the Executive Director of CCF, told the Ghana News Agency that with the understanding that detention in whatever form was injurious to health, the Foundation has gone beyond the prisons.

He said, “the Health Check Series has come to the aid of many Ghanaians, who have been detained in hospitals because of their inability to settle their bills and solicited support for the many others who require surgery.”

He said the Foundation has also provided prosthetic hands and legs for many children, whose parents have either neglected them or could not afford medical care for them.

Miss Dogbe, who resides in Kasoa in the Central region, said her husband and father of her two children had fled leaving her alone to face her medical challenges.

She said she has been struggling to have access to proper medical care due to poverty and has led to her breast getting rotten and emitting bad odour by the day.

She said her siblings, who could support her decided to neglect her to face her crisis alone, adding that ‘I have been calling my siblings to come and support me but they have refused.’

Miss Dogbe said when the ailment started her elder sister took her to the Ridge Hospital in Accra but after that, she has refused to come and help her.

The patient, who could not hold her tears, said she struggled to even feed herself and her two children.

“l used to earn GH¢15.00 from the sachet water business l used to do but I am unable to step out these days,” she added.

She said currently her landlord was forcibly ejecting her from his house because the stench emanating from her rotten breast has engulfed the house.

Miss Dogbe said she does not have anyone to take care of her and the landlord has also taken the keys to her room asking her to leave the house because of her condition but ‘if I leave I do not have any place to find shelter for myself and my children.

The Foundation’s Health Check Series is used to seek support for individuals, who do not have the means to access medical care.
