Christ Apostolic Praise donates to KORLE BU Oncology Unit

The Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), in collaboration with Apostolic Praise (AP), on Thursday presented a cheque for GH? 20,000.00 to the Pediatric Oncology Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

Apostle Joseph Sakyi, Director, Christian Education, CACI who made the presentation, said it was part of the church’s social responsibilities to respond to the needs of the less privileged in society especially children who were at the heart of the world.

He said CACI and AP- a song ministration group in the church have the interest of children at heart hence their kind gesture in reaching out to sick kids of the unit.

“The needy in society needs the church so let us reach out to them as a church to depict the examples of God,” he said and asked all churches to emulate the gesture by reaching out to the needy.

Dr Abraham Frimpong Baidoo, Vice Chairman, AP Management Committee, who spoke with Ghana News Agency observed that the group, which has been in existence for about five years has an annual musical event aimed at getting close to the society through interactions to impact lives.

He said last year, AP’s programme was geared toward the raising of funds to support children with cancer.

“And we are here today to present the proceeds to the Oncology unit of KBTH to help save the lives of these young vulnerable ones,” he said.

“Though this is our first donation to this department, we promise to make it an annual event,” he said.

Dr Frimpong Baidoo said AP would extend the event to the northern sector of the country and make more donations to support more children.

Professor Lorna Awo Renner, Head of the Pediatric Oncology Unit, Department of Child Health KBTH, who received the cheque, thanked CACI and AP for their support and appealed to other churches and organisations to also help the needy children.

“Through this a lot of children are to be cured,” she said

Prof Renner named leukemia, eye and kidney cancers, lumps as majority of the cases that affect the children.
