Atwima Director of Health calls local patronage of health facilities

Foase (Ash) March 22, GNA - The Atwima-Kwanwoma District Director of Health Service, Mrs Dorothy Afuakwa has appealed to the people in the area to patronise health facilities in their communities, instead of risking to travel for similar services.

She described as worrying the situation where most of the people travel as far as to Kumasi to receive medical treatment. Mrs Afuakwa, who was speaking at an annual health performance review meeting at Foase, said the health professionals in the area were dedicated to the cause of delivering quality care to the people. The District Health Management Team used the platform to educate the public on the need to sleep in insecticide treated bed nets to help roll back malaria.

She said lack of transport was a major challenge confronting the district, stressing that it was making it difficult for health personnel to reach out to the people with education on disease prevention. Mr Tony Nyame, District Chief Executive, pledged the assembly's support to make quality health care accessible.
