Association presents equipment to hospital

Hohoe, Aug 4, GNA - The Belgium-based Ewe Association on Thursday donated medical equipment worth 26 million cedis to the Hohoe District Hospital at Hohoe.

The items comprised gloves, disposable syringes, cotton, thermometers, catheters, surgical sutures and sphygmomanometers. Madam Bernice Nuwordu, a member of the association who did the presentation, said the donation was their widow's mite to the national healthcare delivery system.

Mr Martin Fumey, the Founder and President of the association, said membership stood at 60 people from Ewe speaking communities in Ghana, Togo and Benin.

He said corresponding donations were being done in Togo and Benin, all in the spirit of south-south co-operation and regional integration. Mr Fumey said a similar donation took place at the Keta District Hospital.

Ms Patricia Azumah, Principal Nursing Officer of the hospital, expressed her gratitude for the donation and called on non-governmental organizations to emulate the example of the Association.
