Ahafo-Ano South pays over one billion cedis as claims

Mankranso (Ash), Nov 20, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South District Health Insurance scheme has since May last year, paid over one billion cedis as claims to health establishments it operates with.

It has also registered 24,000 people in the various categories being covered by the scheme, and has subsequently issued 20,329 identity cards.

These were contained in a status report released to the Ghana News Agency at Mankranso at the weekend by Mr Obed Francis Baffoe, the District Scheme Manager.

According to the report, registered members have started enjoying free hospital attendance with identity cards at the various health facilities, which has rendered services to some 1,130 in-patients and 21,395 outpatients.

It said from May last year to date, the average monthly attendance stood at 1,325.

The report further said the scheme collected a total contribution of over 741 million cedis, while government support for its administration stood at more than two billion cedis. Mr Baffoe called on those who had not registered with the scheme to do so, to enable them to enjoy affordable health care.
