Agona MCE hands over sanitation truck to Zoomlion

Mr Samuel Oppong, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has handed over a skip loader to the Zoomlion Company Limited to improve refuse collection in the Municipality.

The MCE said Zoomlion was finding it difficult to empty refuse containers and hoped the arrival of the skip loader will enhance their work.

Mr Oppong made the presentation after six hour clean-up exercise during the national sanitation day at Agona Swedru.

The residents of Agona Swedru defied a heavy rain to participate in the programme.

They desilted choked gutters, swept public places and weeded outgrown areas along the highways at Agona Swedru.

Mr Oppong said the Assembly would soon receive tricycles from the Cape Coast Regional Office to boost Zoomlion Company in Agona West Municipality.

The MCE expressed the hope that the arrival of the new skip loader would help reduce the situation of piled- up uncollected refuse containers in the Agona Swedru Municipality.

He charged the company to adopt the culture of maintenance to prolong the life span of the new truck.

The MCE said the Assembly has also introduced house-house refuse collection to ensure environmental cleanliness in the Municipality.

Mr Oppong commended the security forces in the Agona West Municipality for their continuing support for the exercise since its inception two years ago.

He also praised the Agona Swedru and Agona Nyakrom branches of the Seventh Day Adventist Churches for their regular participation in the exercise.

Mr Christian Ocran, Agona West Municipal Director of Zoomlion Company Limited, assured the MCE that the arrival of the new truck would help reduce the complaints by residents about the non-collection of refuse.

Present at the event were Mr George Freeman, Agona West Environmental and Sanitation Chief Officer and Mr Akyea Addo, Agona Swedru Urban Council Chairman.
