Adieyie residents undergo health screening

More than 500 residents of Adieyie in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality have undergone free medical screening and received treatment for various ailments.
The exercise was organised by AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Limited (AAIL), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities..

The medical team diagnosed and provided medicines for high blood pressure, malaria, diabetes, respiratory tract infections, cold and coughs, as well as sore throat and skin infections.

Mrs. Cynthia Odoom-Wilson, a Physician’s Assistant, who is also a senior health nurse at the mining firm’s health facility, said similar health screening exercises had already been organised for residents of New Mankessim, Tokunaso and other communities within its operational areas.

The exercise, he said, would be extended to other communities to help promote the welfare of the people.

She educated the women on family planning methods, breast cancer, hypertension, diabetes and the effects of alcohol consumption.

Madam Rosaline Dauri, the Community Relations and Gender Development Officer at the Iduapriem Mine, congratulated all gallant women who had contributed their quota towards the development of their communities and the country at large.

She said women’s empowerment was a strategic management decision, which would enhance women’s participation in key programmes for both female employees and women in their catchment communities so that they would be equipped to contribute their quota to national development.

One of the beneficiaries of the health screening, Madam Gloria Acheampong, expressed gratitude to the mining company for bringing health care to their doorstep.
