The Anloga Junction, a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis has been declared a hazardous zone especially for persons with asthma and other respiratory conditions.

Medical officers indicate that smoke emissions from vehicles climbing up and descending the hilly stretch of the busy intersection in the Metropolis accounts for this hazard.

Ultimate News also gathered that there is constant smoke emanating from a charcoal production enclave within the same area.

A family health doctor with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Kennedy Kofi Koranchi confirms that most of his patients have asthmatic seizures whenever they reach the Anloga Junction.

He therefore appealed to city authorities to attach some urgency to finding solutions to this environmental hazard within the area to save lives.

“The place is so polluted because of vehicle emissions and the smoke as a result of the charcoal production. I have asthmatic patients when they get to Anloga Junction they get attacks because of this pollution”, he said.
