60 health officials attend workshop on Ebola/Cholera

Sixty health officials and nurses on Wednesday ended a day’s training workshop on the early detection of suspected and probable cases of ebola and cholera at Nkoranza.

The workshop, organised by the Brong-Ahafo Regional Health Directorate, equipped participants who were drawn from the Nkoranza South Municipality and the Nkoranza North District with knowledge and skills in the handling of affected persons and management of such cases.

They were taught among others signs and symptoms of various communicable diseases including Cerebral Spinal Meningitis (CSM).

Addressing the workshop Mr. Richard Yaw Amoah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Disease Surveillance Officer, commended Community-Based Volunteers (CBVs) for their support to nurses in the communities towards the provision of health care delivery services.

Mr. Amoah said but for the voluntary surveillance services and efforts of the volunteers, health officials would not have been able to reach the people with delivery services.

He urged nurses in-charge of health facilities to establish a better rapport with CBVs to encourage them to continue with their dedicated and voluntary services to the people.
