The 37 Military Hospital in Accra has announced the temporary closure of its Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) from Wednesday, June 4 to Saturday, June 14, 2025, to allow for a comprehensive fumigation exercise.

In a press release dated May 30,2025, issued by Lieutenant R.K. Kotoku on behalf of the Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the exercise forms part of the hospital’s efforts to enhance environmental hygiene and maintain a safe and sterile environment for both patients and staff.

During the 10-day closure, members of the public are advised to seek emergency medical care at alternative health facilities.

“These include the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), Police Hospital, and Lekma Hospital”, the statement said.

The identified hospitals have been duly informed and are expected to accommodate emergency cases diverted from the 37 Military Hospital.

The hospital further stated that while the MEU will be closed, emergency medical services for entitled personnel will continue at the Trauma Surgical Emergency Unit (TSEU), which will remain fully operational throughout the fumigation period.

Authorities at the 37 Military Hospital have apologized for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding high standards of hygiene, safety, and patient care.
