  Without any shred of doubt the woes of the NDC in that embarrassing,painful defeat must be squarely and unequivocally blamed on John Dramani Mahama as the then leader and president.It is a statement of a fact that the best organizational framework of the NDC came during the days of PNDC where the revolutionary hierarchy and organogram operated with ruthless efficiency and discipline.A measure of the PNDC socialist orientation is the fact that it was people centered(I mean ordinary citizenry)with the organization using its foot soldiers largely cadres and boys scout brigade as an integral part of the CDR to know the problems of the masses and proffer solutions.This transformation was still in semblance to a large degree when the Founder himself was in charge in NDC 1 and 2 allowing relatively easy 2 successive victories during the advent of multi-party democracy beginning from 1992.NDC as a matter of fact started losing its appeal to the masses with the advent of the late Atta Mills Government because of manipulation by evil characters who have by then strongly infiltrated the power structures of the NDC in the absence of our indefatigable chairman.The situation got worse and pungent when Mahama stepped in following the demise of Atta Mills.Nobody understood the mentality and motive of JDM except he and his close cohorts many of whom have a negative destructive influence on the party by fomenting hate,divisions and factions.JDM himself penchant for corruption,illegality,immorality,indiscipline,autocracy,power drunkenness,greed,avarice and self centeredness coupled with foolish pride and ingratitude allowed perverts and infiltrators who were never committed in anyway to the NDC ideology as a political party to take over the reigns of power for their narrow parochial interest.Foot soldiers and party loyalists were neglected in the interest of cronies,friends and relations who actually used the party as a vehicle to immensely enrich themselves in a regime that actively promoted organized looting and sharing in typical mafia fashion to the neglect of the poor masses who were not only hungry but angry at the arrogant behavior of government appointees and functionaries.A mark of JDM lack of vigilance and lame leadership(to use his own words) were the fact that he himself was completely oblivious,impervious and detached from the reality on the ground that people were extremely angry with his defunct ,corrupt government that actively promoted mismanagement of the country's resources and systematic collapse of the economy.Suffice to say governance is about the masses and foot soldiers including vigilante groups who are desperate poor people who find themselves in partisan politics as a conduit for survival.They are only manifesting their anger and betrayal as being used and dumped.If promises made to them are not fulfilled they are likely to turn against the NPP in 2020.JDM took active party foot soldiers and functionaries for granted thinking he could create his own brand and win election with all manner of groups who were by and large money seeking funfair political novices without any campaign experience,strategy and commitment to the NDC.He turned against people who campaigned and help funded his campaign with their own resources just because they were cadres or aligned to Rawlings in one way or the other.His deliberate conscious attempt to persistently sidelined and render the founder redundant through systematic,covert oppressive tactics against his followers was a needless major political blunder without basis except that the Founder rightly criticized his government for excesses of corruption in his own interest.He refused to heed to advice and have paid dearly for it.We all remember the Founder warning him about bad nuts around him.At the end of the day he was betrayed to stand in the cold alone with a nasty,humiliating defeat after these opportunists,sycophants and praise singers have chopped to their satisfaction.
