Dear author, your article is shallow and full of meretricious content. First of all, there is no way you should ever compare Obama and Mahama. They are both democrats? In name only. I don't think the "D" in the NDC's name represents democratic as we know it.
The economy of the United States and Ghana are not similar. President Obama's priorities were improving the growth rates of the US (which he did); reducing unemployment (BLS data shows he achieved this also). The US can afford it's debt, which is mostly owed to China because the economy expanded under Obama. Mahama could barely afford to finance his debts, even with the amount of aid the government receives.
I suggest you get a better understanding of the two people you write about; and the context in which they perform. You will soon realise the two should never be in the same sentence.

Why "D" Esi?. The writer made it clear that Democrats and NDC are ideologically liberals, is that true?. Information on hand indicates the US economy did not grow under Obama and that he left a mess behind. Over 9 Trillion in the hole as president is very massive and a shame as the writer is referring to. Debt is debt and it doesn't matter if it is owned to Issifu or Sallifu, it will still have to be paid. Let us not get blinded by the love we have for some people and let us not sweep their dirt under the carpet.

YOU WERE MENTIONNG AMOUNTS BUT YOU FORGOT THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY WHEN HE TOOK OVER. THE AREAS HE SPENT THE MONEY AND THE ECONOMY ARE NOW BEARING FRUIT. GENERAL MOTORS, THE HOUSING MARKET, THE BANKS WERE ALL IN THE PITS. ALL THESE COMPANIES ARE IN THE BLACK AS WE SPEEK. WHAT HE SOWED IS NOT BEARING FRUIT. THE US ECONOMY IS BETTER NOW BECAUSE PRESIDENT OBAMA. YOU SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY. IF YOU WANT TO BLAME OBAMA YOU MUST TELL ME OF TGE ECONOMY HE INHERITED. THE BANKS, HOUSING AND THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY IS IN GOOD SHAPE. OBAMA DID BETTER YOU MYST ADMIT BUT FOR THE IMPEDIMENTS THE REPUBLICANS PUT IN WAY. YOU THINK THE US ECONOMY NOW IS BECAUSE OF TRUMP? THINK AGAIN. BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING ABOUT OBAMA AND THE USA ECONOMY, FIRST ACKNOWLEDGE WHERE IT WAS IN 2008.

It is interesting that someone like you from Ghana seeking shelter in Canada, can talk about events in the USA and Ghana, that is evidently above your head, Nyantakyi Akosomo.
Here are some facts that all you Hitler-wannabe hypocrites who prefer callin yourselves conservatives cannot see beyond your blind ambitions. Former President Obama of the US did not have to spend a dime if the US and global economies had not gone into cardiac arrest needing resuscitation. If you knew facts from fiction or as you hypocrites now call alternate facts you would not have forgotten that Canada, USA, China, all of Europe and even third world nations were affected economically because of the activities of con men masquerading as conservative governments who allowed modern day slave masters called employers of the "too big to fail" type to flood the markets with worthless investment paper money called derivatives. Ex-President Bush of the USA and candidate Obama had to get off their respective presidential campaigns to go back to Washington DC to sign bills that would bankrupt the USA to save the USA from the savaged economy brought on by the the greed of conservatives. Remember conservatives needed governments to stay out of regulating human behavior or evils of men in communities but needed governments to bail them out from their economic crisis or mess.
Ghana under Mahama is typical Ghana, nothing more nothing less. Under Ex-president Kufour and the NPP administration, Ghana sold a host of state businesses, lands and other assets and while giving Ghana away to foreign interests on the cheap. Ghana became an official beggar HIPIC nation. Kufour and the NPP came into office with Ghana not having continuous electricity supply and left office with Ghana not having continuous electricity supply despite cosmetic changesbthat cost Ghana billions and no better off. Why would nations in the northern hemisphere seek alternate energy sources including solar, wind and thermal while Ghana and all of Africa continue to be blind even as the sun bake our skin crispy? Under Kufour and the NPP Ghana squandered some US $50 to US $100 million on Ghana@50 while the nations regional hospitals and clinics fell apart without running water, electricity and or basic life saving medical equipment and without indoor toilet facilities in 80 percent of Ghana's homes and businesses. Nothing has changed in Ghana since 1966 and if you can sit in Canada and delude yourself thinking that Canada is any better or independent then think again; Canada, like most in Western Europe have been led around like circus animals by the USA since time doing what the US wants done. Don't let Trump or others espousing alternate facts get you by the balls to believe that stealing and mismanagement by conservatives that enrich a few is better than stealing or mismanagement by liberals that saves more lives even if those saved lives were labelled as lazy individuals.

You have no idea of the challenges Obama faced in his first term, economically,US was on her knees, the global financial crisis was biting hard.President worked hard to restore fiscal confidence in the world, the leadership of former president Obama created 11million jobs in 8years.President Mahama borrowed to build the needed infrastructures deficit in the country.Like Obama,Mahama was faced with challenges at a time when there was global financial crisis and no country was prepared to give aid.Mahama faced energy crisis, industrial unrest and false allegations, mostly because of his ethnic background. Both presidents were smart and did great service to their nations, history will be kind to them

When ignorant people write for writing sake they mislead the public to think that they are knowledgeable, one perfect example is the writer of this piece who thinks Obama's govt was an economic failure-trying to compare GH to the US-wherever he got his information was utterly wrong and misleading-being liberals does not do any good here-check the last 4 govts or presidents of the US, both Republicans and Democrats, who brought economic prosperity to the AMERICANs, Bill Clinton left surplus and Bush left deficit-Obama inherited the stupidity of Bush, you know how many jobs he created before leaving office, do you know the employment rate when he came in and left as president? Please don't talk trash, know the facts and don't compare GH to the US, they don't come close any where.

Mr writer, as per your own definition for selection as president, one should have worked in the federal government for a good number of years, this, Obama lacked which therefore rendered him unqualified. In the case of Ghana, as per your criteria, Mahama was more qualified than anyone in his party to become the president going by his résumé - he had served as an assembly man, MP, deputy minister, minister, and later as vice president. Had there been a leadership contest after Mills' death, who stood more qualified for succession than Mahama? If Mahama went on to cripple the economy by his reckless borrowing as per your assertion, it goes to show that you don't need all that experience to become a president as he did a bad job of it. Obama, on the other hand and with his little federal experience, inherited one of the worst American economies in living memory, yet was able to turn this behemoth around even if it cost an arm and a leg. The moral of your story is you can succeed with little experience? Don't shoot yourself in the foot buddy!
