However, in Ghana, the big thieves (NPP), praying that the country shd fail so the people shd regret voting for the ruling government. What unpatriotic people you are, fools. If you have any solution, think what you can do for your country and not how much you can steal from Ghana to you overseas account if you are in Government. The economy challenges has been encountered by many countries even UK with a very strong economy but because the people, and the oppositions put their differences aside and put their country first, the economy has started growing again. Do that in Ghana and the cedis will rise up again. Then, you can point it to the people of Ghana what you did during the economy crises when it's time for election. This is the time Ghana need problem solvers not problem pointers.

By the way, does the UK gov't dole out millions of pounds to their cronies for no work done as Woyome, RLG, SUBAH, GYEEDA and Akonfem rearing? About 90% of Ghanaians living in the UK sit at the bottom of the economic ladder so don't solicit any uneccessary bashing this morning with your stupid rantings. This is what you get when you have a thieving and stupid person at the helm of affairs in the country.

Mr Azindoo, whilst I share your concerns about Ghanaian politicians and their ability to have solutions for all the problems of the country only when in opposition, I disagree with you that suggestions are not made by critics of the government. The question is, is the government or President Mahama listening?
You are also wrong to compare the depreciation of the cedi with the yen because with Japan, South Korea and Turkey because they export a lot when their currencies depreciate it could also be an advantage because their exports become cheaper, whilst imports become expensive and could reduce their balance of trade deficit. In the case of Ghana it's double jeopardy because Ghana imports virtually everything and exports less. Again, Ghana's exports are raw materials that the world prices are fixed, the demand is constant and production is also almost fixed. For example, more cocoa cannot necessarily be exported because world prices have gone up because cocoa production is seasonal. So depreciation of the cedi does no good to Ghana's balance trade except economic difficulties.
Last but certainly not the least, the free fall of the cedi is also not comparable to the yen because the rate of the fall for the cedi is too fast (within a very short time).
Some of us make suggestions and policy recommendations in our criticisms but I am not sure if those in government as well as the opposition take notice of them. In other words, it is not true that critics of the government or President Mahama do not make suggestions.

Kofi Atta, of course, the government is listening to the cacophony of what I will label 'noise" emanating from the dens of its critics.....Mahama acknowledged this reality earlier in the year when he asked his critics to exercise lots of patience as his administration was committed to finding solutions to the economic problems afflicting the nation.... the one single problem the critics have is that they simultaneously as if in sync with each other slither out of their holes to point accusing fingers at Mahama for the multiple economic problems without as much as acknowledging the indisputable fact that Ghana's economy is fragile and has been for decades beginning after the violent CIA inspired coup d'etat against Nkrumah....that is when the ceiling fell off our national economy.
Things got worse in the 70s and 80s as a series of changes in administrations effectively shut the door to any meaningful solutions.....remember Acheampong's famous refrain....in Twi, yentua...we won't pay our debtors...that was a gross policy miscalculation that essentially kept foreign investors from our shores....threatening nonpayment of debts you owe is a sure way to kill your economy and that was the legacy of Acheampong and his henchmen....Rawlings did not do better either as he more or less threw our economy into the doldrums with his socialist ideas and ad-hoc policies.....subsequently civilian administrations became obsessed with feeding at the national trough instead of addressing the many economic problems left behind by previous governments....corruption and graft became the new normals....
One other factor oblivious to the critics is the painful reality that our economy has no strong manufacturing base, there is in essence nothing worthy of export capable of bringing in huge globs of foreign exchange....and worse still, how can our economy grow if 3/4 of the population is engaged in an endeavor that brings zilch to our national coffers...buying and selling......
What is more, we have no thorough tax system that would hold many businessmen, traders and others engaged in the economy accountable....our Internal Revenue Department is rife with corruption.....take the Customs and Excise branch for instance....it is drenched in graft and greed...
Ghanaians, Kofi, have led to believe that their economy is the fastest growing economy in the world, at least among the fastest in the developing world....this information from the starched bureaucrats at the IMF certainly caused the governments of the NPP and NDC to relax their efforts in addressing some of the fundamental problems afflicting the economy....
Ultimately, there will be solutions reached by the NDC to right the economy, but critics will have to join hands with the governments in finding the solutions instead of constantly shooting darts at the government......

We all know that the level of corruption in the country is not associated with only one party rather both NPP & NDC. However, now is the time to resolve the problem at stick (falling of the Cedis) because that is what voters or the citizens needs. For a example, there is a mojor flood in the UK recently, all the political parties has put aside their differences offering solutions to the problem and within 3 weeks, the problem is nearly resolved. That is what the people want to see their leaders joining together in time of crises to move their country forward. This is a great opportunity for anyone who want to be a leader in Ghana to show voters his or her capabilities by bring solutions to the table for them to see what sort of leader you are or will be if you are voted in power. In UK, this what they do (its opportunity to show what you can do) but in Ghana, they all strive to be in power to corrupt the nation which I bet you know is the reality but the citizens don't care, only voting for the person because he is from his or her tribe. When he or she steal the country's money to his acounts in overseas, what do you get out of it? Please, let us be wise and forget about tribes and work together as one, to move our country forward because we are now in the 21st century and not more in the stone age when people are dying for their tribes.Bring solutions to the table and let us know your contribution towards the crises during election and why you shd be voted in power. Agreed?

When nations are taming deserts and turning them into agricultural masterpiece and farmlands we're turning our land of precious minerals, crude oil deposits, evergreen rain forests into a desert, waste land.
Presently, we don't appear to have the characteristics of a nation that have esprit de corps. The partisan divide seems to favor certain few individuals and they want to maintain the status quo to the detriment of the majority.
As a matter of urgency, the president must begin to surround himself with others who share the same commitment to national prosperity and advancement and not with idlers, hangers-on, sycophants, praise singers and hero worshippers, leeches and parasites, cronies and incompetent administrators. This nation will be best served by the best prepared people from across the political divide.
Our nation must be a mutual improvement society with the goal to help lift every son and daughter from the doldrums of despondency to hope, happiness and prosperity and not just a select few.
Building everyone is building a nation and tearing down others is tearing down the nation.
We need to accentuate the positive instead of tearing people down with inflammatory language and baseless accusations. I'm asking that to get everybody on board we still the voices of insults and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment and endorse virtue, industry and effort. The major work of transformation and real development will not be done by genuises but by ordinary, everyday people with balance in their lives who have learned to work in extraordinary manner.
Most people feel sidelined and alienated and don't feel part of what's going on. They don't feel they're on the team and don't feel knowledgeable and included.
Socrates said:" The gods sell us all good things at the price of our labor. " There's no substitute for productive labor. It's the process by which dreams become realities and idle visions become dynamic achievements. It's stretching our minds and utilizing the skills of all ofour hands that will lift us from mediocrity. There are many who want to help but they need to be accorded rrespect and dignity. We also need to be the nation that rewards hardwork and ingenuity. A word to the wise. ........

Continue to support blindly and you and your kinsmen and women will continue to live in abject poverty. It's as a result of the hard work of the Asantes that gave you and the president free education which has given the audacity to attack Nana Akkufo Addo as a dangerous chanacter. If Nana is dangerous what makes this thing we've as president who supervises the poverty of his own people by giving out dubious contracts under dubious contracts to his cronies?
