The world cannot thrive without good men or women. When we create a society that helps one group and neglects the other, the entire society suffers for it. We miss out on some of the country's most incredible talent, and countries that have fairer systems will leave you behind.
Many women today cannot find men to marry. The focus and success of the girl without the boy comes back to hurt the family structure and society.
Girls who are in dire financial situations tend to turn to prostitution. Boys in dire financial situations tend to turn to criminal activity and war. Ghana faces big threats of heightened criminal activity and vulnerability to jihadists in the Sahel if it doesn't fix the problem soon.
The Afghan women were happy when they were getting most of the benefits in education, etc. They didn't realize that a society that discriminates against men is not one that their men will be willing to fight hard for. What is happening in Afghanistan could one day become Ghana. We need to act.
