It's a societal trend for people to affiliate and identify with one group or the other and people have always had the tendency to circle the wagons. We all have self and group preservation and protection instincts. When a secular musician suddenly starts singing gospel the Christian fraternity views it as an invasion of their space and domain. Of course the switch from secular to gospei music more often than not is influenced by monetary gains but sometimes it's also the fruit of true conversion to Christianity. No matter the perceived motive I don't think the Christian fraternity can and should regulate who sings gospel music. This is a free country and every citizen is free to pursue their dream as it seems good to them provided it falls within the realm of ours laws. The Christian community also reserves the right to discriminate against any brand of music and which musician to patronize. I think it's fair.
