Nigerian actor and model Ik Ogbonna has spoken about the emotional toll of losing his best friend Alexx Ekubo, revealing that he has struggled to remain active on social media since the actor’s death.
He admitted that he is still struggling to come to terms with the loss and is uncertain how long it will take him to overcome the grief fully.
In a video shared on his social media pages on August 13, 2026, Ik Ogbonna thanked fans, friends and family members for their support, prayers and kind words during what he described as a difficult period.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone that has shown support with your love, prayers and kind words. It has not been easy,” he said.
He continued, “I don’t know if this is something I would ever be out of, but I pray that with time, I will be able to get out of it.”
According to the actor, Alexx’s death has been a devastating experience not only for him but also for those who knew and loved the late actor.
“It’s been a very crazy period for not just myself but for friends, fans and family of Alexx. His death is a big blow, honestly,” he stated.

The actor also explained that his reduced presence on social media over the past three months has been largely due to the psychological impact of the loss.
“For the past three months, I have not been very active on my social media; it’s not like I don’t want to, but I guess it’s a psychological thing,” he explained.
He revealed that although he continues to take pictures and record videos, he often lacks the motivation to share them with his followers.
“I will make pictures and videos, but I don’t have the zeal to post them,” he shared.
Despite the pain, Ik Ogbonna said he understands that life and work must eventually continue, signalling his intention to return to his professional and social media activities gradually.
“We have to get back to work somehow, someway,” he added.
